Kingswood 2013

This year, we thought we’d go to the Kingswood Centre at West Runton in Norfolk for a change. And so, once again, on a Friday morning in June, a troop of intrepid adventure seekers set off from Kitwell for four days of fun and excitement at the coast. The coach journey to West Runton lasted around four hours.

Traditionally, the first thing that happens when we arrive at Kingswood is the tour of the site and then the terrible ordeal of making our beds. This year was no different.

One of the most important things about the Kingswood weekend is finding a good quality beach. We had no trouble at West Runton. Early on Saturday morning (around 7.00am) we followed a path along the coach and soon found a beautiful piece of Norfolk coast.

A really important part of the Kingswood residential weekend is learning how to work as part of a team. It’s important that everyone works together when making the beds on the first day. It’s important that everyone supports and encourages each other when faced with a difficult or challenging task. And it’s important that everyone works together when faced with the task of climbing over very high obstacles…or balancing on very large see-saws!

‘Low Ropes’ was another activity where we all had to work as a team and support and encourage each other.

‘Night Line’ was an opportunity for the teachers to work as a team and give the children a right old soaking.

Kitwell children always aim high…and you can see how accurate their aim is in these photos of the ‘Archery’ activity.

Some of our children would try and get through the Kingswood weekend without having a good wash. ‘Nightline’ was the perfect opportunity to make sure that each child had a lesson in personal hygiene!

Lots of this year’s activities took place high up in the air. Here’s the ‘Zipwire’…an activity which required lots of courage and the ability not to be scared of heights.

During ‘Nightline’, the children would often get very muddy and very wet…and sometimes, the teachers would as well…

Go-Karting was a real favourite with the ‘Kitwell Krew’. Everyone really enjoyed whizzing around the track as fast as possible.

And here they are again…flying high through the air. Not even thunder and lightning could stop this year’s group of intrepid and fearless Kingswood adventurers!
