The end of term saw the Year 5s and 6s give another spectacular Summer performance. This year’s production was called ‘The Rocky Monster Show’ and was so good even the parents stood up to sing and dance in the final song.

The Butterfly Farm

Our Nursery and Reception children visited the Butterfly Farm in Startford-Upon-Avon. They saw thousands of butterflies, watched giant fish, held held huge insects, went for a walk in the park and fed the ducks. They also learned about the lifecycle of the butterfly and by the end of the day they could name all the different parts of a butterfly’s body.

Maybe you’d like to visit the Butterfly Farm. You can find out more by visiting the website HERE.

‘Rocket Day’ for Year 5

Year 5 recently went to King Edward VI Five Ways school to learn about Rockets as part of National Science and Engineering week. They had a really super time and learnt a lot too! They made rockets using an empty film canister, an Alka Seltzer tablet and some water. They made quite a mess and the canisters were shooting off towards the hall ceiling!! The also made some rockets out of cardboard and launched them across the playground using a compressor. The ones made by Kitwell flew the highest and the furthest. Kitwell also had chance to see a real space rocket called “Starchaser” that will be sent into space later this year. Year 5 were disappointed that they couldn’t go inside it, though!

Easter Bonnet Parade 2010

Our Easter Bonnet Parade went ahead, this year, even though is it was wet and windy. The poor weather had no chance of preventing us from enjoying all of the fantastic time which had been put into designing and making this year’s Easter Bonnets. We were also able to give our good wishes to Mrs Cartwright who was about to retire after fifteen years of working at Kitwell!

The Kitwell Choir was once again asked to perform for the Lord Mayor at his Gala Ball in May. The event took place in the Round Room at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. The choir performed many of their favourite songs along with some of their newer pieces. The choir’s two soloists also performed in front of the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and his many distinguished guests.
